1. 抽象名词用不定冠词，说明这个抽象名词被具体化了，特别前面有形容词（比如 long）修饰的时候。这是从理论上讲的，是大道理。我再形象描述一下。
2. 大家都知道，“存在”（existence） 既有空间意义，又有空闲意义。任何事物的存在，都是肯定的时间长度。大家把 existence 的存在时间，在历史长河中截取了“非常长的一段”，因此就有了along existence。假如这个事物存在的时间非常短，则可以说 a short existence。
